Can the mirror glass alone be replaced?

Yes, on most vehicles the mirror glass is available separately and is clipped onto the backing plate. The condition is that the housing, the adjustment motor and the heating connections are intact. On mirrors with auto-dimming or a blind spot indicator the glass is more complex, but usually still cheaper than a complete mirror.
